Introducing Archetypes

Energy usage archetypes are profiles that group users based on their energy-related behaviors, demographics, and capabilities to understand their differing needs and their overall impact beyond their own needs. Examples include "active spenders," "conscious occupiers," "average users," "conservers," and "inactive users" or "pioneer greens," "concerned greens," and "daytime wasters". These categories are based on indicators such as:

• Demographic information (income, household composition)
• property characteristics (type of house, insulation levels etc).
• Behavioral factors including the greenness of a household's behaviour, how they use appliances, and how long they occupy certain spaces.

Broadly the different categories are summarised as follows:

1. Active spenders: May have higher energy use, larger houses, and more complex household compositions.
2. Conscious occupiers: Tend to be home more, using various rooms for longer durations, but may have less heating duration in some rooms.
3. Conservers: Characterized by lower heating durations but longer durations of use for appliances and space.
4. Thrifty values: Low energy use driven by cost-conscious rather than environmental reasons, often associated with smaller households with few appliances.
5. Pioneer greens: Early adopters of green technology and behavior.
6. Unconscientious wasters: Low efficiency levels and high energy waste, regardless of occupancy patterns.

Through greater understanding, access to appropriate tech, and capacity to build MyGreenTech helps cater to the specific needs of these different groups.
